Okay. So I do watch it on occasion. Not often, but sometimes.
I liked the movie a good deal and expected to hate the TV show. Yet, the show has a different feel. I love the overall feel of the tv show and how it has progressed. The cast is good though I must admit, I *really* miss Anthony Stuart Head and Seth Green.
And for the record, the show Angel is pretty terrible. Avoid it...even if you like Buffy.
Once again... Too many sites to list but you can always search for some.
Okay...if you haven't watched this show, do so next Wednesday! Honest. I know...it might sound like a dull premise, but it is amazingly well written and acted. I am hoping this one will be on for a long time to come...except I hate being fixed to the tv for another night during the week. *chuckle*
Favorite characters:
Good Guy
President Bartlet
Hard one to choose really, but.... He is quirky enough that I can't
help but like the guy. A nerdy president. Heavens, that would be a
great change! *sighs longingly* And Sheen give an amazing performance
each and every time.
Favorite Occasional Character:
Mrs. Bartlet
Stockard Channing is an amazing actress that really doesn't get enough
credit. I really hope she will be reappearing often within the series.
And well, I suppose I loved the character just as much as I love the
actress. Strong, yet also clearly devoted to her husband with a good
heart.
I got watching this as a social thing, but find they are amusing in a schlock way. However, I have been very dissapointed as of late just how *bad* the show has become. I mean, it isn't high quality TV viewing but alot of fun. It seems Sam Rami is running out of ideas...*pout*
Favorite characters:
Good Person
Xena
Honest...I haven't watched much lately. She is getting a touch annoying
though.
Fav Bad Guy
Ares
He is yummy. That bad boy in black leather thing... *licks her lips*
Favorite Occasional Characters:
The Thief
Okay. So how can I resist putting down Bruce Cambell beating up on
himself yet again. If you don't know who he is, check out my film page.
Cupid
Seeing Cupid as a daddy. Fun. Sweet. And the actor always
having a great time with the role. Though I really wish he were around more.
At one time, this was the only show I watch religiously. (Dave, if you are reading this, I could kill you for getting me hooked on this show!) However, no matter what hardcore fans say, season 5 was a waste of time.
The writing is good. The direction is decent. The actor is not quite as good, but the plot works. Yes, it is a space opera, but it is well done. Plus, the building of characters is so rare in TV shows. Most of the time, especially in SF TV stuff, the characters retain none of the knowledge from the past sessions. With B5, the characters change, adapt and are manipulated. There are no simple black and whites. The good guys are not always so good and even the bad guys aren't always pure evil.
There are so many B5 sites. I won't even bother trying to list them. The offical site has some nifty bits and the Lurker's Guide is great.
Favorite characters:
Marcus Cole
He is adorable, charming, romantic and adores Ivanova (the best woman on the show). His accent and sparkling baby blues make him a doll to desire. Plus, the character is this dreamer who can kick ass with the best of them. *pouts* I can't believe he is gone...
Fav Marcus Quote:
"If you are going to have delusions of grandeur, you might as well go for the really satisfying ones."
I am not alone in my belief that Marcus is too delicious for words. You have to see the Marcus Cole Estrogen Bridage.
Susan Ivanova
Nice to have a strong female lead. She is strong and hard, almost to the point of brittle sometimes, yet fiercely loyal and devoted to her work. Yet, there is a tenderness that peeks through now and again. She knows something is up, but well she seems to turn a blind eye. I think I relate to her too well.
Ivanova has the blind spot to love a mile wide. She still doesn't seem to know Marcus is head-over-heels for her.
Great Ivanova quote:
"You have a face people can trust." -Sheridan
"I would rather have a face people would fear." -Ivanova
Favorite Occasional Characters:
Zathras
He had the best lines. It is that simple.
Bester
Walter Kronign (one of those old original Trek guys) getting to have fun playing a ruthless, manipulative character. He is fun to watch and the Psi Corps is so easy to hate.
This was an adorable show with Jeremy Piven in the title role. Quirky, funny and very well written, it stole my heart. The acting was delightful and the premise of the show is about a man who either 'believes' he is Cupid or really is... The ambiguity of it really worked wonders. Perhaps it is just another thing to appeal to the hopeful romantic in me, but I do think there was way more to it.
Unfortunetly, the pinheads at ABC shifted its time slot three times in half a season without announcing the moves. Then in the coup de grace, they placed it opposite Fraiser! *sigh* So much for good things lasting on tv. *pout*
Either way, it is worth checking out what Jeremy Piven is going these days at his personal site . Also, there is a very cool 'Cupid' site.
I still think that it was some of the best television ever. Kevin Spacey (before he was a name), Tim Curry and many others have made appearances. The first show I found with a story line that ran through several episodes (typical 6-12 episodes in a storyline). I wish they were showing reruns of it somewhere.
Twin Peaks
It was good, then it sucked for a while, then picked up a bit before it was canceled. David Lynch is annoying sometimes, but also the quirky style was a delight. It shook up television for a while.
And there were some wonderful actors and actresses on it. Guest appearances by Billy Zane (see my film page) and Ted Rami (of the Xena series and Evil Dead) made it all the more fun.
